Program: New Life Program (NLP)

The Women for Sobriety (WFS) New Life Program is a secular recovery program developed to support all women seeking help for problematic substance use. It was founded on the belief that women have unique challenges in overcoming addiction. The philosophy of the New Life Program is that our thoughts precede our actions. If our thoughts are positive, so are our actions. We believe we have the power to change our way of thinking. We take responsibility for ourselves and our choices. The 13 Acceptance Statements form the foundation of the New Life Program and help to guide our beliefs and actions.

The New Life Program offers a variety of recovery tools, meetings and peer support to guide women in developing coping skills which focus on emotional growth, spiritual growth, self-esteem and a healthy lifestyle. Sobriety is more than abstinence from a substance. It is a time for reflection, learning and self-discovery. By knowing ourselves better, we can overcome addiction.

Specific audiences: LGBTQ+

This meeting is a safe space for WFS participants who identify as part of this community. Any WFS participant who identifies as part of the extended LGBTQ+ (broadly inclusive) community is welcome to attend the LBGTQ+ Affinity Group meetings. This includes, but is not limited to, WFS participants who identify as queer, homosexual, gay, lesbian, bisexual, pansexual, demisexual, asexual, two-spirit, transexual, nonbinary, gender fluid, gender queer, intersex, or questioning, as well as those not specified above. This meeting is led by a trained WFS Certified Facilitator who aims for open and frank conversations about specific challenges in our New Lives that are related to being part of the LGBTQ+ community. With shared confidentiality, participants may engage in this group without having to come out with their identity to the entire WFS community.
